ManganovaThe short version: what you make stays on your phone. Manganova has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics. The only network connection it makes is to an AI server you set up yourself, and only if you choose to.
What is stored on your device
The app keeps the following in its private storage on your device:
- Your stories: titles, outlines, scripts, characters, world notes, pages, panels, drawings, bubbles and effects.
- Images you import, such as covers, character sheets, reference pictures and images on a layer, and the bundled materials you place in a panel.
- Files you export (PDF, PNG, CBZ, long images and .manganova backups) until you delete or share them.
- Your settings: pen name, theme, drawing hand, creative preferences and the AI server settings described below.
- Conversations with the assistant, if you use it.
None of this is sent to us, and we have no access to it. Removing the app or clearing its storage in Android settings deletes it. Stories you delete inside the app stay in the app's Trash for 30 days and are then removed for good.
No account
Manganova has no account or sign-in and does not ask for your name or email address. The optional pen name is stored on your device, shown in the app and printed on the cover and information pages of files you export.
Optional AI writing help
AI features stay off until you enter the address of a server in Profile. This must be a server you choose (an OpenAI-compatible endpoint). We do not run or provide one.
When you use an AI feature, the app sends the text that request needs to that server: for example your story's title and logline, character profiles, world notes marked to be sent, the relevant part of the script, and what you type. Nothing is sent until you tap an AI button. The app does not send your drawings or images.
The server you choose decides how that text is handled, so please read its privacy terms. An API key, if you enter one, is stored on your device and sent only to that server. Clearing the server address turns these features off.
Permissions
- Files: only through the Android file picker, when you choose an image to import, a .manganova or .mangaka file to restore, or a place to save an export.
- Internet: only to reach the AI server you set up.
- Vibration: for haptic feedback, which you can turn off in Profile.
The app does not use your location, camera, microphone, contacts or an advertising identifier.
Analytics, advertising and third parties
The app contains no analytics, crash reporting or advertising SDKs, and we do not share data with third parties. The only outside party that can receive anything is the AI server you set up yourself. Google Play may collect data of its own when you download the app; that is covered by Google's privacy policy. This website stores no cookies of its own; its fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
Sharing and exports
When you share an exported file through the Android share sheet, it goes to the app you pick, such as email or a messaging app. That app's privacy policy applies from then on.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not collect personal information from anyone, so there is nothing held by us to delete. Removing the app removes all local data.
Changes to this policy
If the way the app handles data changes, we will update this page and the date at the top, and note important changes in the release notes.
